Anatomy of a monument.
Virtually all monuments are built using
the same basic construction technique. Cut from slabs
of granite in various thickness the individual components
are polished, inscriptions are then sandblasted and
gilded before being transported and assembled on site
using either cement, silicon or epoxy resins.
The diagram below illustrates the individual
components that are assembled together to create a memorial.
Each of these components can be customised to suit an
individuals needs and as in some cases, deleted altogether,
such as the Ashlar, which is generally only required
by choice or if stipulated by the cemetary.
